We have been watching with great interest developments in your country around the issues of waste. We encourage and urge your committee to proceed along the genuinely sustainable course of separate collection of food waste as a priority.

We are of the opinion that such systems:

- Reduce disposal volumes substantially

- Reduce health hazards

- Return valuable nutrients to the soil

- Is the most efficient way to mitigate carbon as a sequestration mechanism for climate change purposes

- And many others

We are writing to say that our institute is in favour of the Wales Collections Blueprint, and look forward to hearing of this proceeding in a positive manner, and not go backwards to a co-mingled system of waste.
